Overview

Tamang Heritage Trail is one of the relatively easier trek routes closer to Kathmandu, located in the Rasuwa district, which is in closer proximity to the border of Tibet, thirty kilometers from the north of Kathmandu. If you're short on time or are unable to manage time, if you want to go for a short hike, then this is the perfect destination for you, as it's closer to the Kathmandu Valley and requires very little strain on the body. Despite being a short trek trip, this trek has a lot for you to enjoy and appreciate nature for what it has to offer. Alongside the views of Langtang and Ganesh Himal mountain ranges, this trip offers an opportunity that might even be the first time in the life of someone travelling to a newer and unique culture of newer places to get to have the full experience of fully immersing themselves in the cultural and traditional art of living a life from a completely and totally unique perspective and to experience the life from a completely newer point of view.

With its breathtaking sub-alpine vistas and verdant forests teeming with pines and rhododendrons, the Tamang Heritage Trail is simply breathtaking. You can also learn about the history of the Tibetan ancestors while hiking around the region. There will be stops at several monasteries, chortens, stupas, and mani-walls.
The 7-8-hour trip begins with the Kathmandu-Syabrubesi, which is the first phase of the nine-day ascend trip to Bhanjyang, and then the trek to Gatlang village. On the Tamang Heritage Trail hike, Gatlang is one of the typical villages full of cultural attractions. After exploring, we'll be descending the massive historic Buddhist Mani walls, ascending to Gongang village, and eventually arriving at Tatopani village, which has a natural hot spring. Trekking further takes you to Thuman, renowned for it's mytical manifestations and breath-taking views and vistas of many majestic peaks, including Paldor Peak, Tibetan Peak, Langtang II, and Langtang Lirung. We'll carry on with our trip ahead to Bridim village, a traditional homestay in Tamang hamlet, where we can have a sighting and tour of the historic Dukchu Gompa Buddhist monastery.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Arrival in Kathmandu (1400m)

After you arrive at the airport, you'll be received by one of our delegates, who'll provide you with the company, guide you to your respective location of accommodation for check-in, and provide food service depending upon the hour of your arrival. Following this, you'll visit our guide in the dusk hour to get brief details about the trip the following day.


Day 2 : Kathmandu valley sightseeing and trek preparation

On this day, we'll be going sightseeing, so you'll need to wake up early and prepare yourself after which we'll be visiting World Heritage Sites inside the Kathmandu Valley. We'll visit Swoyambhunath stupa, and moving forward, we'll visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bouddhanath, and then Pashupatinath Temple and have lunch at a local restaurant. After the completion of the city tour, we'll be heading to our place, where the preparation of the trek for the day ahead starts. and the activities for the day in Kathmandu end with dinner at the hotel.

Day 3 : Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi

This morning, after the completion of breakfast at the hotel, We'll embark on our trip to Syabrubesi, which is a trip of around 7-8 hours. Our ride will take us through the typical crop fields that are terraced along the sides of hills and mountains. Following the path on the ride, we'll get across the Trishuli River, a residence a bit with hustle and bustle going via which we'll also be getting through places like Naubise, Galchi, Dhunche, and finally Syabrubesi, the last point for our trip of the day where we'll unwind, have dinner, and stay overnight.

Day 4 : Trek from Syabrubesi-Gatlang

Today, we'll begin the very first day of our Tamang heritage trek. We'll be on a hike for almost 3 hours on a rocky and rugged path, which might be a bit strenuous, but on the bright side, you'll get to witness the breath-taking, amazingly wonderful views of peaks like Ganesh Himal, Gosaikunda Range, and Goljung Valley. It takes around an hour to get to the Goljung Valley by descending. After completing the descent, we'll stop for lunch in there. It takes about another 3 hours to hike to Gatlang, which is our endpoint for the program of the day. Gatlang is a beautiful area with the majority of Tamang ethnicity where houses are made of stone slabs in a typical pattern and can get to observe the beauty of local cultures. One of the major attractions here is the Parvati Kund, a historic monastery that represents the ancient forms of architecture and artistic workstyles of contemporary society and civilization.

Day 5 : Gatlang to Tatopani

After climbing past the terraced farms and over the suspension bridge, you'll arrive at Gonggang Village. From there, you'll hike via a hot spring and then past several chortens, Mani walls, and dense woodlands until you reach Chilime, where the damn of hydropower offers a lovely serene scene of the lake, and if you wish, you can take a bath in the natural hot water spring, which has the potential to heal ailments of the body.

Day 6 : Tatopani to Thuman

The trip to the Tamang Heritage Trail continues as the route goes through the woods after we complete our breakfast. As the route continues, we gradually ascend uphill, and the elevation rises gradually while we come across several ups and downs. After walking for almost a couple of hours, we'll be at Nagthali Danda. Lunch is served, while the beautiful vistas of the nearby snowcapped mountains make the surroundings beautiful with their majestic presence. You can visit a few small monasteries. The next stop is at Thuman, a Tamang hamlet where the friendly natives make the surrounding vibes vibrant and attractive through their activities of singing and dancing in Tibetian style. At the end of the day, you'll be served dinner at the local teahouse and overnight stay provisions.

Day 7 : Trek from Thuman to Briddhim

The destination for today is Briddhim, which is across the valley on the other side of the famous rafting river Bhotekoshi. After a moderate section, the route descends to Timure along with the old trade route to Tibet, a place where we'll grab lunch. After lunch, the Tamang Heritage Trail Trek route goes steeply to a ridge with more views of mountains and nearby surroundings prior to heading inside the rhododendron, pines, and oak woodland. The route eventually leads to Briddhim, i.e., the destination of our day, which is another village full of Tamang settlements and Tibetan influences where the overnight stay is facilitated in a local home that'll provide you with a genuinely authentic experience.

Day 8 : Trek from Briddim to Syabrubensi

Moving from Briddhim after breakfast, we'll be heading to Syabrubensi alongside the trail of the river Bhotekoshi and passing through dense forest, terraced fields, and several small hamlets. We'll stop for lunch somewhere, and after moving forward, we'll be descending gradually to Syabrubensi. On the way downhill, you'll get to witness some of the unique flora and fauna. And at the end of the day, you'll be accommodated at a lodge with a good dinner.

Day 9 : Drive from Syabrubensi to Kathmandu by private vehicle

we'll begin our trip to Kathmandu in a private vehicle, which will take approximately 5–6 hours. The road will take us through beautiful landscapes and lovely villages as we enter the city of Kathmandu. After we arrive in Kathmandu, we'll move to our hotel and unwind there. Take some time. In the evening hour, a farewell dinner program will be hosted for you, where you'll be served traditional Nepali dishes, get to enjoy cultural performances and share your experiences and thoughts about the trip with our guides and companions.

Day 10 : Departure

Today is your last day here in Nepal. In the early morning, you'll be served a healthy breakfast. after which our delegate will reach you and assist with your transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport.
