Island Peak Climb with Everest Base Camp trek is a package of trekking and climbing that takes you into the heartland of the Khumbu Valley and Everest Base Camp (5357m/17575ft). With an impressive and highly glaciated West Face that rises from the Lhotse Glacier, Island Peak (6189m) is one of the main climbing peaks in the Everest Region. This itinerary is for those adventurers who are physically fit and energetic for both trekking and climbing at one go.
This package allows us to visit Mount Everest Base camp and climb to the top of Island Peak (6,189m) and proves a good acclimatization hike offering magnificent close-up views of the world's highest mountains including Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Makalu and other more.
Island peak is popular expedition appreciated mostly by the beginner peak climbers. The path to the summit includes a steep slope and a narrow ridge.

Arrival to Kathmandu airport, transfer to hotel. Stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
Free day in Kathmandu for preparation of the trip. Checking the climbing equipments, and discussing the climb with the climbing/trekking guides. Stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.
Fly from Kathmandu to Lukla (2886m.) takes about 35 minutes. Trek from Lukla to Phakding (2640 m.) takes approximately three hours. We begin our trek from Lukla following a gentle climb up the mountainside on the left bank of the Dudh Koshi River. Nupla (5885m) which can be seen in the distance on the opposite bank is a peak atop the Kongde Ridge. We descend a mountainside path that merges into our route to Everest, with views to a valley to our right; and at its far end, Kusum Kang (6367m.) Stay overnight at lodge.
Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440m.) takes approximately five hours. Namche Bazaar (3440m) is surrounded on three sides by mountain ranges and opens out only where it faces the Bhote Koshi. Stay overnight at lodge.
A day for rest at Namche Bazaar (3440m.) for acclimatization. It is an ideal place to spend a rest day for acclimatization to the high altitude before heading off towards Tengboche. For acclimatization we walk up to Khumjung where we can visit a monastery. We can also enjoy the splendid views of Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse, Tawche, and Kwangde and so on. Or we can take an hour's walk up to Syangboche (3800m.) where Everest View Hotel is situated above Namche for an outstanding view of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kusum Kangaru. Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3867m.) takes about five hours. As we climb through the forested zone, the incline eases and a splendid view appears. We continue climbing the mountainside diagonally until we come to the stone gate built by lamas which marks our entry into Tengboche (3860m). Stay overnight at lodge.
Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche (4260m.) takes approximately five hours. Dingboche is a beautiful patchwork of fields enclosed by stone walls protecting the crops of barley, buckwheat and potatoes from the cold winds and grazing animals. Stay overnight at lodge.
Trek from Dingboche (4350m.) to Chhukung (4730m.) takes about 2 and half hours. The trail gradually ascends up to the Chhukung. On the way, we can see summer huts made especially for keeping the livestock’s in summer time. Along this, we enjoy the beautiful mountain views in and around the valley. Stay overnight at lodge.
Trek Chhukung to Island Peak Base Camp (5087m.) takes about three hours. We trek through gradual ascent path all the way to Base Camp. On the way we can enjoy the panoramic views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, Island Peak and many others. Stay overnight in camp.
Climb to Island Peak (6189m.) Crossing the gully above the camp the trail makes a climb for another hour to a narrow ridge, leading on to the glacier. Here, it is time to rope up and put on our crampons as the most interesting part of the climb begins with the glacier crossing. This is followed by the steep snow slope that leads onto the summit ridge. This ridge is wonderfully airy and on reaching the summit we have stunning close-up views of the south face of Lhotse looming over us whilst in the other direction, there are more mountain views. We descend along the same route, down to base camp. Stay overnight in camp.
Trek from Island Peak Base Camp to Chhukung takes about three hours. Stay overnight at lodge.
Trek from Chhukung to Lobuche (4930m.) takes about seven hours. The onward journey leads north for up to 50-minutes until we come to a mani-prayer Stupa. The trail follows a downward path to Pheriche village. Today's walk offers views of the Mt.Tawache, Ama Dablam and to the north-Pokalde (5741m), Kongma-tse (5820m) and the great wall of Nuptse. After two hours walk, the trail from Pheriche joins near Dugla (4595m) before a small wooden bridge over the river of Khumbu glacier. Stay overnight at lodge
Trek from Lobuche to Everest Base Camp (5486m.) via Gorakshep (5180m.) takes about seven hours. Trek up the valley following the rocky moraine path, view icy glacial ponds and icebergs down below of the Khumbu glacier. Gorakshep is the location of the original Everest Base Camp with the new camp being further up the valley. Now the trail winds through a rocky path and the Khumbu glacier. The view of Nuptse, Lho-La and Khumbutse appears at the front of us. Stay overnight in Camp.
Trek from Everest Base Camp to Gorakshep to Kala Patthar (5545m.) and then to Pheriche (4243m.) takes about six hours. We accomplish an early morning climb to Kala Patthar (5545m.) and enjoy the view of sunrise. From Kala Patthar we can have a panoramic view of Mt. Everest and many other mountain peaks like Mt. Pumori, Mt. Lingtren, Mt. Khumbetse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku and many more peaks. Yaks are normally used as four-legged porters in this area. Stay overnight at lodge.
Trek from Pheriche to Tengboche (3867 m.) takes approximately four hours. Tengboche is a small village with a famous monastery offering us splendid views of Ama Dablam, lush green hills and river views. Stay overnight at lodge.
Trek from Tengboche to Namche Bazaar (3440 m) takes about four and half hours. The walk from Tengboche is mostly downhill on the main busy trail with a few steep climbs for an hour from the bridge at Phungitenga, near to Shanasha. The walk to Namche is very scenic on a long winding path. En route we will visit traditional villages of Khumjung and Khunde. From Khumjung village another 30 minutes walk brings we to the village of Khunde. Stay overnight at lodge.
Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2886 m.) takes about six hours. The last day of our trek leads from Namche Bazaar via Monjo to Lukla. The trek is pleasant, except for a few short uphill climbs and then down to the Bhote-Koshi River crossing it three times. The last uphill climb of 45 minutes will bring us to Lukla for our overnight stay. Stay overnight in lodge.
Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu takes 35 minutes. We take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu. Stay overnight at hotel in Kathmandu
Transfer from the hotel to the airport for final departure.
