Overview

Also known as Annapurna Sunrise Trekking or Annapurna Panorama Trekking, Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking is one of the most popular and relatively easy treks that meander through the beautiful ethnic villages of Annapurna Region. The trek offers spectacular mountain scenery along with charming villages inhabited particularly by the Gurungs and Magars, dense rhododendron forests full of birds, and deep sub-tropical valleys, all set below the Annapurnas, with the picturesque peak of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Peak) dominating the skyline.
The Poon Hill, at an altitude of 3120 meters, is widely known for its amazing panoramic view of the Himalayan range, such as Mount Dhaulagiri (8167 meters), Annapurna I (8091 meters), Machhapuchhre (6998 meters), Nilgiri (7041 meters), Annapurna South (7219 meters), Annapurna II (7939 meters), Annapurna III (7555 meters), Annapurna IV (7525 meters), and Lamjung Himal (6988 meters). A provocative glimpse of the high mountains surrounding the area can mesmerize anyone who's part of this awesome trek. This region provides you with a fabulous view of the dazzling environment, green vegetation, the rhododendron forest, different flora and fauna, and so on. Besides the natural scenery, the trekkers also get an equal opportunity to discover the lifestyle and culture of different ethnic groups like Gurung, Magar, and Thakali. The Plan Nepal Trek & Expedition (P.) Ltd. team would be exceedingly happy to become a part of your wonderful journey.

THE IDEAL SEASON TO VISIT

The best seasons to travel to Poonhill are spring (March and April) and fall (October and November). These seasons are quite dry and warlike. It's not advised to hike during the monsoon season (May to September) due to the higher risk of landslides and floods. The winter months (December, January, and February) are the driest and coldest months of the year. Since the Poon Hill trek is not very steep, it is unlikely that you'll get much snow even in the winter.

Important Note

USEFUL TIPS IN SAVING ENERGY

  • For the camera, extra batteries.
  • 5,000–10,000 mah power bank.
  • The solar charger, as well as the solar lamp, are both eco-friendly (luminaid lamps).
  • Using a gadget with low brightness, GPS, and wifi turned off when necessary helps save energy.

At the end of the day, we stay overnight in the lodge.

Pokhara, situated in the Kaski district, is a land of pristine beauty, adorned by the majestic Himalayas, lush green hills, and pleasant weather. The place is loaded with luxuriant vegetation and dotted with shimmering lakes. Three out of the ten highest mountains in the world—Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, and Manaslu—are within 30 miles of the city. Due to its proximity to the Annapurna mountain range, the city is also a base for trekkers undertaking the Annapurna Circuit through the ACAP region of the Annapurna ranges in the Himalayas. This picturesque valley is also famous for such adventure activities as paragliding, rafting, rock climbing, canyoning, boating, fishing, golfing, and cycling. As Nepal’s major adventure hub, it has the reputation of being the second home for tourists worldwide.

To everyone out there, not many people still know about this heaven on earth, Nepal. To my fellow travelers out there, as a travel lover myself, I'd like to recommend you guys give a shot to Nepal and travel at least once in a lifetime, as you'll get to see how alive the culture and the city itself are. With the warm and hospitable coordination from Mr. Dina Nath Panta and his team, my trip to Nepal has been so much more beautiful than I'd ever imagined while travelling to other countries. once again, thanks to Mr.Dinanath Panta and his team

Trip to serenity

With a very honest heart, I'd describe my trip to Nepal with simply one word:' serenity''. The trip to such a vibrant place, full of calmness and the majestic aura of the mountains overlooking the world, was full of awesomeness. Not just Ghorepani, but the nation of Nepal as a whole, feels alive. So I'd personally recommend everyone make a visit to this beautiful and culturally alive nation, Nepal.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Ghorepani trek lies in the Annapurna area and is located in the north-central part of Nepal.

Yes, for the Ghorepani Poonhill Trek, you have to obtain an Annapurna Area Conservation Project (ACAP) permit that can be obtained from the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Kathmandu, and Damnside Pokhara.

There are two different permits: ACAP permits and TIM cards. The price of permits is:

ACAP permit cost: $30 US per person

TIMS card cost: $10 US (a trek through a trekking agency)

TIMS card cost: $20 US ( Trek by yourself)

Yes, there are many locations where you can charge all your electronic devices. You are advised to get your own charging cables. And it is also suggested that you keep your electronic stuff warm inside the backpack, as the cold temperature might drain the battery faster.

The trekking agency will only provide you with a limited number of items. Generally speaking, the agency will provide you with the trekking pools, sleeping bags, down jackets, and trekking maps, but you will be responsible for organizing the remaining equipment. There are plenty of trekking equipment shops in Kathmandu and Pokhara, so if you need to purchase anything before you start your trek, we can assist you in doing so at a fair price.

Your breakfast during the trek in the Ghorepani area will be provided by the lodge in a similar manner to how your lunch will be provided by a local inn or restaurant. The most popular Nepalese dish in the mountains is dal-bhat, which is served by a local restaurant and consists of rice, curry, spinach, lentil soup, pickles, and pappadam. Other options include a breakfast set( which consists of bread, omelettes, potatoes, and tea), fried noodles, fried rice, mo:mo (dumpling food), a variety of soups, ramen, Korean soup, and Indian dishes. However, you can have almost any type of food; just be prepared to make it fresh and safe to eat. Drinks are also available in the restaurant booths and lodges.

The Ghorepani poon-hill trek (2028m ) is short and simple compared to other trips. Ghorepani is the highest place where you'll spend the night. Due to this reason, there is little to no risk of getting altitude sickness. during this long and short trip.  since altitude sickness generally takes place after exceeding 3500 meters of altitude.

If you're trekking alone, you can share your health-related issues with your hotel owner or with your nearest friend around you. Similarly, if you are trekking with your trekking guide, you can tell him about your problem, and he'll assist you in getting the required medication. but if its a major issue, he'll organize an emergency helicopter evacuation.

During this trek, we don't get to the hospital, but primary clinic services are available at Ghorepani and Ghandruk villages.

Yes, they do provide the Wi-Fi service, as every single teahouse now has Wi-Fi services plus a hot shower, for which they'll charge a small amount of money, about $2.

Given that you can take a jeep service straight to Nangethati for the next two days, you can avoid walking for a full day, and two days will be enough to reach Kathmandu. However, if you are already in Pokhara, two days will be sufficient.

While NTC and NCELL local SIM cards work, the signal strength is not strong enough for clear communication; you can still talk and use your phone. Wi-Fi services are available in almost all teahouses and can be used for emergencies, chatting with loved ones, working, and other purposes.

All meals, lodging, transportation, porter pay, and hotels in Pokhara are provided by your trip organizers. However, there are some additional costs, like donations, purchasing mountain souveniers, water, hot showers, battery chargers, Wi-Fi, and tipping field staff. For all the additional activities, you can bring about 2500 Nepali rupees per person per day, which should be enough to cover the costs of four nights and five days of the Ghorepani trek.

Although it is not required, it would be courteous to give the porters and guides a small gratuity for their services after four to five days of trekking in the Himalayas. The porters typically demand about eight dollars per trekker per day ($8 per day).

Regardless of the season and how much it changes, Poonhill is undeniably a windy and chilly place.
